The Duo, which has been sold since 2003, has been a longtime best-seller from a company that makes almost two dozen different diaper bags. Just about every retailer we visited—chains, boutiques, and consignment stores, plus online retailers—carried this bag. Parents can pick from a dozen neutral or bold, graphic prints, and on some colors the interior is made of a light-colored fabric so that you can easily see what’s inside (not all diaper bags have gotten the memo on this). https://i.pinimg.com/236x/0d/f3/76/0df376ef0096822504c5e6db4ec44026--bracelets-necklaces.jpg
Want to babywear but still need to carry a diaper bag—is that even possible? Yes, it is. It’s also safe and can be comfortable when done right. You just need a front carry baby carrier and a backpack style diaper bag. Put your carrier on first, then put your baby inside the carrier and finally put your backpack diaper bag on. When your child is bigger and you switch to a back carry position, you can also wear a backpack diaper bag on your front. It may not look the best, but it can work if you need it to.
When the time came to ditch the diaper bag, I jumped for joy. I never liked toting around a huge bag, but was still surprised that even though I now have a five-year-old, we still cart around a lot of stuff! Now that we are involved in school and sports, it turns out I still need a decent bag that’s both functional and stylish. Just as we signed up for the upcoming summer swim team (that requires tons of swim accessories!), one of my favorite companies released a baby line- Baby by Thirty One! https://i.pinimg.com/236x/16/25/c9/1625c967018eccde1ae6668eb748959f--thirty-one-fall-thirty-one-gifts.jpg
Also, pick a bag that will last you both in durability and style. If the bag only looks good with certain outfits, you'll find yourself frustrated or wanting to buy multiple bags. A black or red bag, or one with relatively neutral colors/patterns can work with nearly any outfit. Of course, some of the really stylish baby diaper bags can also get really expensive; so maybe dig into some of those gift cards you might have hanging around from your baby registry, or put your favorite on a new baby registry (see our best baby registries here) if you haven't had your baby yet! Finally, it's worth considering a diaper bag that is water resistant, to protect the bag's contents from damage during rain or accidentally being set on a wet surface. The Halova Diaper Bag Multifunction Waterproof Travel Backpack is a great example. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/9f/00/4a/9f004aea3f27021da5813e66f6f0e8c3.jpg
We also asked parents (including one mom of six) about what they loved or hated about their diaper bag (or diaper backpack). Some parents splurged, others got by with a free diaper bag from a hospital, and almost everyone shared the bag with a partner, nanny, or relative. We considered a wide range of parenting preferences and lifestyles. Multiple kids, cloth diapers, frequent travel, sharing with family members, stowing a bag under a stroller or shouldering it along with a baby carrier—it all affects what you need. For some parents, the look and style of the diaper bag may matter just as much as its form and function.
From the moment we opened the box, we fell in love with this top-rated Skip Hop diaper bag! It perfectly demonstrates the intersection between style and functionality. For moms with style, it uses a classy New York style colors and black stripe pattern, with light brown leather accents. We loved the look of this tote diaper bag style. But we were even more impressed by the functionality. This baby diaper bag gets things done. It is big, well-made, and has a ton of pockets (11 to be exact). For pockets, let's start on the outside: it has insulated side pockets that were big enough to fit even the widest baby bottles and keep stored at a nicely controlled temperature. Above those on the sides are some small pockets that were very easily accessible and perfect spot for keeping pacifiers. On the front, it has zippered pockets, which we thought were great for mom's personal stuff: car keys, a small wallet, or cell phone. The inside is vast and well-lined for durability and easy cleaning. It has a huge center space, which is perfect for diapers, wipes, changing pads (it comes with a great one!), and toys. A clever divider is put in between the outside handles and the main inside space, which provides even more storage space. These were great for more upright things that you want to slide up & out quickly like diaper cream, sunscreen, and lotion. Overall, we absolutely loved this bag, and it performed very well in our testing for durability, and we think it is very deserving of this spot on our diaper bag list! Cons? A bit pricey, usually around $75. Highly recommended! Interested? Check out the SkipHop Grand Central diaper bag here. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/04/8a/7a/048a7ad006fc8c1558c3bfbce00a92ca.jpg

No matter which style you choose, you should think about how you'll be able to put it onto one of our best strollers: down in the stroller's basket, or would you like to hang it on the stroller's handlebars? If the latter, you should go ahead and buy a diaper bag that includes stroller straps, like several of our top-rated bags. We suspect you'll use that feature a lot. Of course, always use caution when hanging the diaper bag on the handlebars of your stroller: when you take your baby out, the stroller will flip over backwards (unless the bag is super light)! So definitely make sure that the stroller you choose has a nice large basket to fit your diaper bag. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/9d/20/f8/9d20f8636588ba47bb2078735f125330.jpg
We’re not the first to give the Skip Hop Duo high marks: Baby Bargains selected it as the best diaper bag of 2017, BabyList called it one of its best picks of 2017, and Meg Collins of Lucie’s List named it among her favorites. It is among the most popular diaper bags on Amazon, averaging just over 4.5 stars (out of five) across more than 1,000 reviews as of summer 2017. Although few would mistake it for some of the $200-and-up diaper bag options out there, its style is sophisticated for what it is. One Wirecutter staffer seeing it for the first time said it looked most similar to our upgrade pick, “with fewer bells and whistles”—a strong endorsement considering she didn’t yet know that this cost about a third of the price of the other bag. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/30/36/52/3036527eccac6260f02a269ce688bb49--younique-eye-pigments-rose-water.jpg

I loved the SkipHop when we had two kids, but it didn’t hold up well and I decided a back pack was a must. As my younger boys grew, I’d take one of their Pottery Barn backpacks to amusement parks, MLB games, the zoo, etc. They worked great for these trips but I wasn’t a fan of the robots or Spider-Man. For baby number 3, I got a Vera Bradley backpack that I love. The laptop compartment is perfect for a changing pad, diapers, and wipes. The rest of the bag has a good amount of pockets. Also because it’s not technically a diaper bag, I will continue using it as needed after we are out of the baby stage.

Thirty One is already the go-to source for durable and stylish totes, backpacks, purses, home decor and now baby––and all with the ability to be personalized. The new baby line isn’t just for families with infants. Sure, there are some seriously adorable diaper bags, bottle thermals, baby caddies and even whimsical pillow designs for the nursery. But it’s also for those of us with big kids too!
This is one of the biggest bang-for-the-buck diaper bags on this list, with great style and functionality. Note that if you don't like the pinkish coral color, it comes in a ton of additional styles. This diaper bag is a hand-tote that converts into a comfortable diaper backpack. It's very large, though not as large as the SkipHop or SOHO, but it's definitely large and functional enough for most purposes. What we loved about it is that it's only like 35 bucks, and it has some features that make it competitive with the best bags on this list. It has side pockets, one of which has a slit in it so it can dispense baby wipes! It also has a zippered mom pocket on the outside that can fit keys and a phone, and the top zippered compartment is really quite big and well-divided into a main space for diapers, cloths, clothing, toys, etc. It also has a zippered mom pocket on the inside, and an insulated zippered baby bottle pocket on the front that can fit up to 3 bottles (mostly the modern short and wide ones, not the classic tall and narrow ones). It has a clever way of dividing its space, as you can use the front pocket for just bottles, or you can push it back into the main compartment and use it for much larger things. That will end up being a separate space at the bottom of the main compartment, and this works out well because it brings the bottom of the main compartment up much higher (which makes it less likely to lose things in the depth). Overall, we found this diaper backpack to be really excellent for the relatively low price. Don't expect super high quality hand-feel for the fabrics at this price, or expect anything fancy like stroller straps or removable zippered pockets, but we think you'll be surprised with what they've pulled off! Interested? You can check out the HaloVa diaper bag here.
Over the last 4.5 years, we have tried more diaper bags than I can count. Many were purchased online and immediately returned. Others were given to us as gifts, to review on the blog, or as hand-me-downs from friends. They were either used for a while, sold on Craigslist, or returned to the store — depending on the situation. Some were too big, many were too small, some looked too much like a purse for Dave, others didn’t have enough pockets for me, etc. etc. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/35/56/70/35567050b5cc8d6a5a3c3ceae0e3be20.jpg
The Cool Clip Thermal Pouch makes a great addition to any tote, bag or backpack when you need a little extra space or just need to keep items separated and easy to access. Great for snacks, sunscreen, medicine, make-up, valuables, cell phones, baby food, bug spray, first-aid supplies and many other items. Features a washable and wipeable thermal lining, exterior clip, zipper closure and front pocket. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/00/87/e5/0087e58559164e36da7b2c2ac85f8520.jpg

Our assortment of diaper bags features options to suit every caretaker’s preference, including totes, messenger bags, shoulder bags, and backpacks. There are totes that feature bottle coolers, changing mats, wet bags, and other organizational compartments. Whether you’re looking for a spacious baby bag that attaches to a stroller, a designer style that can double as a purse, or a more compact on-the-go version that works for quick trips in and out of the car, you’ll find tons of options for carrying baby essentials at Amazon.
So why buy an actual diaper bag? They’re thoughtfully designed with right-size pockets for essential baby gear, and made with tough material that’s easy to clean—inevitably, milk or juice will spill inside, and crushed crackers will find their way into crevices. Mine has been tossed around in my car, dumped on park benches and dragged across wet grass. I once accidentally left a banana peel in it for a few days. “The diaper bag is for the diapering years,” said Meg Collins, founder of Lucie’s List, a blog that recommends essential baby products for new parents. “It’s meant to keep you organized and sane. You have go-to pockets for your keys, diapers and wipes. You don’t have to think or fumble.” That just may help you escape the house a little more quickly. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/85/8c/5c/858c5c7f61f48c2e534979d026866e59--frugal-tips-girls-night-out.jpg

I just had a party with Monica Nickerson in West Allis, WI. She was the nicest, quickest to respond ...and most helpful women ever! She brought so many fun things to the show and was interested in what we needed. The show was perfect getting us ready for the holidays. I received the order and everything was beautiful! I’ll definitely be hosting again with Monica, she’s delightful and the products are amazing! See More
Skip Hop makes some excellent diaper bags, and this one is no exception. The Skip Hop Duo Signature has a slightly more modern styling than the classic lines and colors of the Grand Central models, and is shaped more like a tote or over-the-shoulder bag than it is a purse. It's narrow and deep rather than wide and short, and a bit smaller overall than the purse-shaped models, so it's good for someone who doesn't want to be lugging around a truly enormous diaper bag. It's also about the same width as most strollers, so it doesn't stick out on the sides a lot when you hang it on the handlebars. But while it's smaller overall, it's still super functional. It has 10 pockets, a separate insulated bottle holder, a breathable side pocket, a key ring clip, diaper changing pad, and a great interior liner. The Skip Hop Duo's main interior pocket is super deep and we loved the lining, it was soft but also rugged enough to make wipe-cleaning easy. The padded shoulder strap was comfortable, as were the padded carry-handles. We were able to fit everything in that we needed, including diapers, wipes, baby bottles, and cloths. Being relatively tall, we found that when it was fully loaded it did tend to topple over sometimes. We also found it less convenient to reach in and easily grab something, since things tended to get stacked on top of one another, so this design might not be for everyone. Also, the changing pad was a bit small relative to some others on this list. So, this Skip Hop Duo Signature model is an excellent diaper bag, with some minor drawbacks. Note that Skip Hop also makes a Skip Hop Duo Diaper Backpack that is very similar to this but in the backpack style, and is also very well-reviewed. Interested?
