It has more flexibility than any of the other bags we considered—it can be worn as a backpack, across your body as a messenger bag, on your shoulder as a handbag, or carried as a tote. The heaviest of our picks at 2.3 pounds, the B.F.F. comes with multiple straps that are adjustable and quick and easy to unclip and remove (though we found that they can sometimes still get in the way).
Diapers, wipes, extra clothes, changing pad, feeding supplies, ointments, burp cloths: this is just a sample of the items that you cannot leave the house without when you have a baby. A Thirty-One diaper bag is the perfect solution for organizing all of your baby's essentials so that you can easily find what you need. The Thirty-One organizing utility tote measures approximately 10.25 inches in height, 15.5 inches in width, and has a diameter of 6.5 inches. It is a medium-sized bag great for holding baby's items and a few items of your own. If you have multiple kids, need to haul toys and sporting items, or want to use the bag as a purse and diaper bag, the Thirty-One large utility tote fits your needs. It is about 11.75 inches in height, 21.5 inches in width, and 10 inches in diameter. The reliable sellers on eBay offer Thirty-One products in many different prints and patterns, ensuring that you find something that fits your style. When you have a baby, a bit of organization is key for making your day go as smoothly as possible. With a Thirty-One diaper bag, you can be organized and stylish as you go about your day.
A tip that I wish I had figured out a lot sooner… cosmetic bags are a GREAT “rectangular” size to hold a few diapers and a small wipes pack, plus some other small items (WetWipes, etc). I have several of these diaper “clutches”… they can easily go in and out of our larger diaper bag, and I keep one in each car. I like them a lot better than the true “diaper clutches” that are sold – I don’t need something bulky/fancy that folds out into a changing pad, etc! I have found good size bags at WalMart and Harmon.
There are elastic holders on one of the sides for two water bottles or baby bottles, plus lots of pockets to organize everything. I really like that there is a thermal lined pocket on the inside of the tote for a sandwich or some cheese sticks. It is big enough to hold lunch for one or snacks for 4. It really makes this bag an all-in-one option so you do not need to take a lunch bag or cooler unless you need more than a snack or single lunch. The middle compartment has a zipper closure that I keep my personal items in like my wallet. I like that I can zip it up and know it is secure but then the compartments on either side are open for easy access to wipes, or toys that I may need to grab quickly. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/bd/07/1b/bd071bd5b47187ece22b804f78fb6009.jpg

The DadGear Backpack used to be one of our also-great picks but it was discontinued. We liked the bag’s large size and clever storage (like a chamber dedicated to dispensing wipes.) The DadGear’s flaps zipped open all the way—more like a suitcase than a typical handbag—making dumping out crumbs and cleaning easier. If you somehow manage to get your hands on one we still think it makes a great purchase. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/7d/28/b0/7d28b0ee85cb3ac8bc7457dd036a192f--summer-prints--bags.jpg
This is an awesome backpack-style diaper bag that is stylish, durable, convenient, comfortable, and feature-rich. It's a medium-sized diaper bag that you can carry has a hand-tote or as a diaper bag backpack. It has a modern gender-neutral style, helped by the heather gray color, the leather accents, the asymmetrical front pocket, and its vintage style button. It's the sort of bag that both mom and dad will be willing to wear, making it one of the only unisex diaper bags on our list. And it has some great features. First, we loved the side baby bottle exterior pockets, the zippered wipe dispenser on the side, and the hidden pocket on the back (up against your back) that can hold valuables without the risk of pick-pocketing. That's great if you live in the city, or travel to urban areas where that's an issue (like on the subway!). We also liked the substantial padding against the back, to keep things comfortable for longer excursions. It also includes stroller straps on the sides, though we warn you to be careful about attaching diaper bags to strollers due to the tipping hazard. In that regard, it's definitely a good size for throwing into the stroller's bottom basket, but still big enough to hold most of your stuff. Speaking of size, the main compartment is really quite large and is divided well into a mesh pocket area, a zippered pocket, and elastic pockets for holding smaller items. We were able to fit everything necessary into the bag without any issues. It's great to have a nicely divided main compartment, to prevent things from sinking down to the bottom and remaining elusive in your desperate search for that last clean pacifier! We also want to point out that this company is very responsive to customer concerns. This is their third version of this great diaper bag, with improved stitching and reinforcements based on customer feedback (and if you have the older version with an issue, you can email them and they'll send you the newer one for free!). And the price is right too, coming in around $40. So, if you're looking for the comfort and convenience of a backpack, this is a great option! Note that we also checked out the HapTim Multifunction Large Baby Diaper Bag Backpack, which is very similar and very highly recommended. Interested? The Jeep Diaper Backpack was roomy, and had plenty of pockets for organization, including a zippered, insulated pocket for a bottle on the side of the bag. But it did not have an open pocket for a bottle, which meant that anytime we needed a drink, we had to remove the backpack from our shoulders and unzip one of the pockets. We ran into the same problem with the Bag Nation Diaper Backpack. Almost identical in design to the Jeep Diaper Bag, the Bag Nation Diaper Backpack also did not have any open pockets, though it did have an insulated pocket for a bottle on the side. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/02/f7/2f/02f72f05dd0dc996c89892c253c1ce9c--thirty-one-products-thirty-one-gifts.jpg
Once you finally get out the door, the real adventure begins! Why not be ready for anything by turning your vehicle into a mobile baby station? (We know – between the car seat, stroller, sun shades, backseat mirror and kid-friendly tunes, it kind of is already.) Pack up a structured bin or expandable caddy to keep in your center console or between the seats. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/56/02/67/56026782b059dac323f83d70fcd940bb.jpg
My kids are no longer babies nor am I expecting, but my plans were to use this bag as an everyday bag/purse. The bag is large, but not overdoing it. The style and shape are honestly perfect and does not reflect the appearance of a standard diaper bag - which is why I believe it makes it so much more appealing. You have a lot of pockets and organization space, a HUGE plus whether you're a mom or just a busy woman always on the go. The outside of the bag has 5 large pouch pockets and 1 cell phone pouch, which is a signature design of Thirty-One bags. The way it is styled, you have 2 pouches on one part of the bag, one pouch on each side (perfect for drinks, bottles, etc), and then a large snap pouch on the back of the bag. Above that is where cell phone pouch is located. So a lot of places for when you have to "grab and drop" things in the bag and don't have time to actually put them away. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/71/d8/67/71d8677a583a7d515e8b54e42f125e8b.jpg
Convertible diaper bags are designed to be carried in multiple ways, and Ju-Ju-Be’s B.F.F. bag is definitely versatile—it can be carried by its top handle, or worn as a messenger bag or backpack. The straps are made of cushy memory foam and are designed to not slip off your shoulder (something that’s extra annoying when you have a baby in your arms!). https://i.pinimg.com/236x/f7/18/3a/f7183ab77e595cef69fb2eaca18d0244.jpg
We’re not the first to give the Skip Hop Duo high marks: Baby Bargains selected it as the best diaper bag of 2017, BabyList called it one of its best picks of 2017, and Meg Collins of Lucie’s List named it among her favorites. It is among the most popular diaper bags on Amazon, averaging just over 4.5 stars (out of five) across more than 1,000 reviews as of summer 2017. Although few would mistake it for some of the $200-and-up diaper bag options out there, its style is sophisticated for what it is. One Wirecutter staffer seeing it for the first time said it looked most similar to our upgrade pick, “with fewer bells and whistles”—a strong endorsement considering she didn’t yet know that this cost about a third of the price of the other bag.
After applying our criteria, we ended up with a list of a dozen bags to test. As soon as the bags arrived, we examined the overall design, features, and pocket structure carefully. Then my husband and I spent six weeks carrying the bags daily in everyday life, using each bag for at least two days and the best ones for far longer than that (I’m a 5-foot-3 woman; my husband is 5-foot-10). We were consistent in how we packed each one. We kept it to the basics: a few diapers, a travel pack of wipes, a change of clothing for our 18-month old son, an insulated lunch bag with snacks (usually crackers, Cheerios, granola bars, and oranges), a 16.9-ounce disposable water bottle, sunscreen, toys (usually a toy car or two), tissue, hand sanitizer, a smartphone, wallet, and keys. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/00/ce/07/00ce078af1800b41ab4317acf82bffa7.jpg
The Skip Hop Duo Signature showed no wear and tear as a toddler did his best to get it dirty, including dragging it across the beach and dumping sand inside it. You can flip the bag over to dump out dirt and crumbs, and we were able to successfully scrub off dried milk and crushed Cheerios from the bag’s wipeable polyester interior. The Skip Hop Duo’s deep, narrow main compartment is a bit challenging to reach into to clean compared with those of other diaper bags, but the material is slippery enough that we could still clean it easily enough. Only one other bag, our upgrade pick, was easier to clean.

Sold at Nordstrom and other upscale retailers, the Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags (and backpack diaper bags) are among the most popular, super-stylish, and high quality diaper bags available on the market. The styles are awesome and range from quilted black with gold trim, to flowers and abstract watercolors. The designs are subtle and give the bags a high-end look. And the price tends to reflect that, with this Boxy Backpack model coming in at just over $150, making it the most expensive diaper bag option on our list! Its price is almost justified by its high quality and functionality. The bag we tried, the Indigo model pictured to the right, was made right here in the USA of cotton canvas that has a durable glazed coating on it for stain and water resistance. For functionality, this bag is really large, coming in at about 0.90 cubic feet of capacity. For pockets, there are several inside (8 of them), including two with zippers, and 3 outside (two for baby bottles on the side, and one larger one on the front that holds the included diaper changing station and pad). So, there's tons of space inside, and plenty of pockets for organizing baby care products, and the top opens up nice and wide for easy access. In terms of versatility, it also has several carrying options. You can carry it like a tote using the top grab handle, or use it as an over the shoulder diaper bag, backpack diaper bag, or attach to the stroller using the included stroller straps. It looks best as a shoulder diaper bag, but when you get sore it's great to have the option to wear it as a backpack. In our testing, we found the bag to be generally high quality, stylish, versatile, functional, and really large. It stands on end on its own, which is really nice - in other words, it doesn't tend to topple over like some other diaper bags. Maybe that's why it's called the Boxy model since the bottom is pretty boxy and stable. We also liked that it came with a sleek plastic baby wipe holder or diaper tote that made trips to the changing table much easier. There's really a lot to love about this diaper bag - but is the price worth it? Well, there were some limitations to the bag we purchased for testing. First, we were surprised that there was no insulated pocket for bottles or foods, not even the bottle pockets on the sides have any insulation. Second, the fabric is available in cotton canvas, embossed stitching, and a plush chenille. We actually only tested the cotton canvas, but we made the mistake of putting it in the washing machine after a milk spill, and the bag fell apart a bit - some of the stitching came loose, and it seemed like the bag lost some of its water resistance. So that was a bummer. Finally, the backpack straps aren't padded so they're not the most comfortable straps in the world - same with the shoulder strap. So definitely some limitations that might make you reconsider whether the style and Petunia Pickle Bottom name recognition are worth the price? We'll let you decide! Interested? Personally, I’m the mom of three; my youngest is 18 months old (as of publication) and still in diapers. I’ve changed my three kids’ diapers on the dirty floor of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, on airplanes, at Target, and in too many other public places. My journalism background includes stints at the San Francisco Chronicle and other major newspapers, and I have reported on family and parenting for publications such as Family Circle, Working Mother, and Salon. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/5e/57/47/5e57473a93b84c2b2dfc3b81c6db02e1.jpg
