I had a fantastic time attending the Thirty-One Spring 2012 Product Premiere with my local Vermont team.  We drove 3 1/2 hours to Albany, New York to attend and had a great time carpooling back and forth, and got to chat the entire way there and back!  And all across the country our other teammates were attending their local Spring Product Premieres too!

When we arrived at the theater in Albany, we were ushered back to one of the theaters to watch the entire product premiere on the big screen, which was so fun!  And, when it was all done, we took home a few new spring products – the new Mini Utility Bin in Lotsa Dots and the new Essentials Crossbody in Black – BIG thanks to our amazing company…Thirty-One Gifts!!

After getting a closer look at the catalog, one of my teammates discovered something fun … my name was in the catalog on a sample notecard!  And it was spelled correctly and everything :)  That was really neat!

I can’t wait for our spring selling season to begin on February 1, 2012!!  Lots of great patterns and new products that I absolutely LOVE!

Sponsor a Child in Jesus Name with Compassion
Each month I donate a portion of my income from Thirty-One to Compassion International.  So, I thought I would introduce you to my Compassion children, and give a little background on why being a child advocate with Compassion is important to me.

I’ve always wanted to sponsor a child and make a difference in someone’s life. So, on Mother’s Day 2010, I started my Compassion International journey when I sponsored Christine.

Christine is 12 years old now and lives in Kenya. She is a joy, and I love receiving letters and drawings from her. She is quite the talented artist. Christine does well in school and I enjoy reading about her progress.

Then came Travis. In March of 2011, I was thinking of sponsoring another child and was looking through the photos on the Compassion web site and Travis just jumped off the page right into my heart. His soft smile was just precious.

Travis is 6 years old and enjoys playing soccer. He also lives in Kenya. I have also been blessed to receive several letters from Travis where he told me about his joy in receiving a pair of pants, shoes, shirt and cups for his birthday. He was overjoyed. Travis also draws sweet pictures and is writing his name and doing well in school.

And then there was Mueni. In May of 2011, I was volunteering at a Compassion concert with Michael W. Smith and as I was placing the child packets on the table, I saw that Mueni shares a birthday with one of my family members. So, she joined my Compassion family that day.

Mueni is 5 and loves to play with other children. She is also in school and doing well. And we have received some precious letters and drawings from Mueni too. And she also lives in Kenya (Kenya holds a special place in my heart and always has.).

These three are my Compassion children (so far…) and I love them as much as my own. I have been so moved by my experience with Compassion that I decided to become an Advocate with them, because I believe in their mission and can see the difference they are making in the lives of countless children. Compassion is rated as excellent and a full 83% of the dollars you donate go directly to the children (10% fundraising, 7% administration).

In the past few months, God has really placed it upon my heart to go and see what Compassion is doing in Kenya first hand. To go and see the churches that Compassion works through, and of course, to see my children.

It is my goal to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of the trip to Kenya with Compassion before my next birthday on September 24, 2012, and then travel in 2013 with Compassion.

I had a lot of errands to run, and I had my 5th Avenue bag packed full!  The iPad (from Best Buy shopping trip!), my Kindle, and a notebook were in the middle pocket.  My wallet, cell phone and essentials (in a Mini Zipper Pouch) in an outside pocket, and receipts and items to return in the other outside pocket!  Love it!

When I was checking out, the guy helping me said that he had never seen such a large gift card!  At first he thought there was a mistake, but then I explained that I earned the gift card from a company I work with called Thirty-One, and he said, “Wow!  That really must be a great company!”

And then I went back a few days later for part 2 and got another iPad!  And there is still money left!

I am so blessed and thankful for being with Thirty-One!  I love being a consultant and Thirty-One has already been a blessing to our family, and many more on my team!  It’s so fun to see lives changed!
